Tapestry Weaving 101
This course teaches the fundamentals of weaving geometric, pictorial and
abstract designs. This simple weave structure can be worked on any
loom. You will learn how to weave any shape and how to create
color blends and transitions. The course covers all the steps of
designing, weaving and finishing a small tapestry, as well as how to
display it or incorporate it into a functional item. No prior
weaving experience is necessary. Portable tapestry looms may be
rented or purchased from the instructor ($10 to rent, $50 to purchase).
Materials fee is $10.
Woven Jewelry
Weave
your own piece of wearable art, learning basic tapestry weaving
techniques in the process. Using a variety of colorful, metallic
or textured yarns, students will design and weave a small panel that
will then be sewn into an amulet pouch necklace complete with cord, or
fashioned into a fiber brooch. Add your own finishing touches with
beads, bangles or charms to complete a one-of-a-kind creation. A variety
of yarns and beads will be provided. Materials fee is $5. No prior weaving experience is
necessary. Versatile, portable looms will be provided for use in
class at no charge, and may be purchased at the end of class for $50.
Creative Fiber Beads
Learn to make colorful beads using yarn and wire!
A variety of textured and metallic yarns will be provided to open your
way to creating beautiful fiber beads that you can incorporate into
jewelry or other art/craft projects. Basic wire-working techniques will
also be taught. No prior experience is necessary. Instructor will
provide necessary materials and tools, but bring your wire-working tools
if you already have them. Materials fee is $15.
Basic Bead Weaving
Bead weaving on a loom is easy to learn. In
this half-day workshop, you will weave a bracelet using your choice of
seed beads or delica beads. You will also learn how to create your
own designs. $75 fee for the workshop includes a portable bead loom and
materials.
Weaving for Knitters
Ever wish you had a way to use up the little bits
of yarn left from all your projects? Now you can. The Knitters Loom is
especially designed for knitters to learn to weave scarves, mixing a
variety of yarns together. It’s quick, it’s easy, and it’s creative!
Bring your own yarn scraps. $35 for half-day workshop.
